Bright and Associates (BA) is an Australian Career Management Company that was established in 1999. BA provide a full range of Career Management services to both organizations and individuals.  In addition BA has provided career transition services to Government departments, large commercial law firms and international telecommunications companies. 

BA also provides a range of services to individuals including coaching, interview assistance, vocational assessment, stress management, medico legal assessments, and training.

BA has an enviable record in the provision of highly acclaimed and tailored training across a range of human resources areas including stress management, team work, communications, career development and dealing with difficult people. They also provide thought leadership and excellence in the provision of training for career professionals through their accredited Career Coaching Counseling and Assessment Course and their Advanced Assessment Course.

Professor Jim Bright, BA, PhD, FAPS, FAAC is a Partner in Bright and Associates.

Jim has over 19 years of international consulting experience specializing in careers and training. He works with individuals, organizations assisting both with transition processes and training. In addition he is regularly commissioned to write expert witness reports in relation to vocational capacity. He has a degree and PhD in Psychology. He has published nine books, and has over 245 peer reviewed scientific journal articles (the majority in leading international journals), chapters, reports and conference presentations. He has won awards for his careers research and has become a best selling international author in the area of careers. A US version of his careers book is published by Indianapolis publishers JIST with the transfer of rights of a careers book from Australia to the US believed to be an Australian publishing first. His books have been translated into Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Italian, Russian, Danish, Romanian and Swedish. Approximately 100,000 people have purchased Jim’s career advice. In addition he broadcasts on careers regularly on the radio, most recently with Mikey Robbins and Ian Rogerson and was the employment expert on ABC radio 702 with Sally Loane between 2000 and 2005. Jim has pioneered the application of complexity theory approaches to career development and is an in demand international speaker. Jim is a registered psychologist, a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society and a past Chairman of the National Executive Committee of the Australian Psychological Society College of Organisational Psychologists. He is a Fellow of the Australian Association of Career Counsellors, and a member of the National Career Development Association.. For 11 years he taught and researched Organisational Psychology at the University of New South Wales. In addition to his consultancy, he also holds the position of Professor of Career Education and Development at ACU National. He was the careers guru on Kickstart your Career, a television series on Channel 10 in 2005 and in 2006 appeared regularly in the Channel 10 show Home and Lifestyle. He currently writes the Ladder column in the MyCareer section of the Sydney Morning Herald.

Karen Bright, B. Bus. is a Managing partner in Bright and Associates.

 

Karen is the author Getting a Brilliant Job: The student's guide published by Allen and Unwin in 2005. This book has already sold many thousands of copies around Australia and New Zealand. It received a positive review in the Career Education Association of Victoria (CEAV) newsletter. Her second book, Land that job in Australia: the successful job hunting for migrants, was published by Tribus Lingua in 2005. She has also published on job hunting and promotion in Industry journals. Karen is an expert in career transition, career assessment, job hunting, resumes, selection criteria, interviewing and applying for jobs and promotion. She manages BA’s professional services staff and provides coaching to individuals in this area. In addition she runs training courses for individuals, schools and organizations in career development and job applications. Her clients range from school leavers to CEOs of International corporations. She is regularly recommended by senior management to employees wanting to present a claim for promotion or for other career development issues. Karen presents a range of training programs on careers, and has developed a series of schools programs that are highly regarded. In addition she has managed large scale vocational testing and reporting projects in leading schools as well as working with senior executives on career transition and assessment projects. She brings her extensive career development skills, assessment skills, labour market knowledge, marketing skills and her supportive and friendly style to assisting clients with their transitions. Her track record of success in this area is enviable. She has extensive industry experience, with over 20 years working in marketing, merchant banking and financial investment across a range of industries for blue chip Australian companies. She has extensive experience working with all levels of both private and public sector organizations. She is a professional member of the Australian Association of Career Counsellors and an Associate Member of the Careers Advisors Association.
