1. Our service is based upon a programme of research that began in 1995 into what makes a Résumé get shortlisted. This work has resulted in papers published in leading international and national journals on careers (International Journal of Selection and Assessment, Australian Journal of Career Development).. Our work on careers has been presented at International conferences in the USA, Singapore and Australia. We have provided outplacement, job hunting and careers training based on our work to a range of leading Australian organisations. Thus the résumés we produce for you are not based just on industry experience (though we certainly have that!) but also on what has been demonstrated to work. This is a service that tailors résumés for each person and job. We regularly work with Vice Principals, CEOs, Senior Managers, Graduates, Career Changers, and those people looking for an outstanding professionally written résumé.

2. This is an intensive one-to-one service that requires many hours of preparation and significant time getting to know the client and the position they are applying for. This tailored service has an outstanding success rate. The service is designed for Senior Professionals or those aspiring to reach those ranks, and for those who can see the merits of investing in their own career development.

How it works

There are five steps in the process.

We need to get all your biographic information - we normally request this by email or fax (but can arrange face-to-face meetings in our North Sydney office), and can guide you on what we need. Often if you have an existing résumé it will contain a lot of the basic information we require and you can provide us with that. This saves you time relaying stuff you have written before.

We generally talk to you by phone to get a fuller picture of your achievements and your career goals.

We ask you for information regarding key work achievements and information about the key competencies that our research indicates are the most important ones required by employers. If you have a job in mind we ask for details of the ad so we can tailor these competencies to the specific ones required for that job. This process is generally done by email and with phone calls (but can be done in a face to face interview in North Sydney).

We produce a draft of your résumé and send it to you for your feedback. We then attempt to incorporate the feedback and produce a final version.

We print four copies of the final version on high quality paper. We bind one permanent copy. We burn a copy onto a CD for you to edit for future versions. We send this package to you and include a copy of our best selling book on résumés.

How long does it take?

Obviously the more time you can give us, the more work we can put into producing an outstanding résumé. We can turn around résumés in 24 hours if you are facing an impossible deadline. Please enquire if you need this express service as it depends on our workload at the time. Normally up to 7 days is a reasonable time for us to do a good job, and for you to have an opportunity to look at drafts and provide us with all your achievements and competencies.

Face to face Consultations

We are happy to meet you in our office in Warriewood on Sydney's Northern Beaches. In our experience, it is simply not necessary to do this for the vast majority of clients. This is because most of the information we require is more efficiently collected by other channels. Busy professionals often do not have the time to attend such meetings. However, we do recommend such consultations if there are special circumstances that you wish to alert us to in more detail.

An example résumé makeover. Here is an example of a makeover of the first page of a client's résumé. The names, dates and other personal details have all been changed. The original was poorly formatted, did not emphasis achievements, and had no logical flow. Furthermore, a lot of irrelevant information was included, some of which could prejudice the candidate's chances of success. Typically, this client was extremely pleased with the final result!
